CVS Caremark is a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and a third-party administrator of prescription drug programs.
PBMs are primarily responsible for processing and paying prescription drug claims, negotiating discounts and rebates with drug manufacturers, and managing pharmacy networks for health insurance plans, employers, and government programs.
CVS Caremark has over 100 million members who utilize its services.
Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will no longer have inventory to dispense certain supply-constrained GLP-1s.
As the demand for GLP-1s continues to rise, certain GLP-1 brands are experiencing ongoing, widespread supply issues. Beginning May 15, 2024, CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will not have inventory to dispense supply-constrained GLP-1s. Members may fill prescriptions for these medications at in-network retail pharmacies, where available.
Summary of Changes
Starting May 15, 2024, CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will no longer have inventory to dispense any prescriptions for all dosages of the supply-constrained medications below:
- Mounjaro
- Trulicity
- Wegovy
- Saxenda
