January 20th 2017, President Trump signed an executive order to waive, defer, grant exemption, or delay the requirements of the ACA, that would impose a burden on individuals or families, medical providers, or purchasers of health care. The executive order gives the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services the power to enforce or not enforce the laws requirements.
As it stands, the executive order has not had an immediate impact on health plans or coverages.
The order does confirm that the administration is going to repeal, replace or refine the current law. There is reason to believe that health care reform may be passed down to a state level. This would give states the power to develop their own health care reform.
